More than just an ordinary shed...
14th May 2013
It's that time of year again when I get rather competitive in the quest for the title Shed of the Year!
Voting is well underway and I am already starting to sound like a broken record as I campaign for your votes. I am absolutely thrilled to bits with how much support I have had so far.
As a previous finalist, I know I can get there again, but only with your support.
To most people, a shed is just a wooden structure at the bottom the garden filled with junk and a lawn ... Read More >>
For the Love of Sheds
1st May 2013
Over the past few weeks I have been giving the shed some well deserved TLC. As I have mentioned in my previous post, it is undergoing an exciting refurb and while it has been a long time in the making, it is a real labour or love!
The vision is a clean, tidy and practical studio with its new desk and worktops and hidden storage. More importantly, it will be a cosy, beautiful and inspiring place to design, create and enjoy working in.
In a few days time the Shed of the ... Read More >>

Bye Bye Pink Walls
15th April 2013
I am feeling very excited as I write this! After a long time of wanting and waiting, the shed is finally getting a new look. As well as a fresh new lick of paint, it is also being fitted out with some great new worktops and desk to give it a whole new lease of life.
One afternoon back in autumn, I was feeling fed up and uninspired of making do with random pieces of furniture, of seeing everything cluttered up on shelves and (I'm afraid to say) too much ... Read More >>

Thinking Differently?
11th October 2012
There is something that often intrigues me. When people hear I am dyslexic, what do they really think? When I first set up In The Shed, somebody told me I shouldn’t tell my clients that I am dyslexic. Why? Because it might put them off. Do people really see dyslexia in such a way that it could put them off? The way I see it, dyslexia it’s just a small part of who I am. Just as I have brown eyes and am only 5’2” short, I am also dyslexic. I am ... Read More >>

I Have a Dream....
21st September 2012
It's easy to have ideas but not do anything with them. I'm an ideas person, a thinker, a dreamer, a believer. That's possibly when I'm most happy. That's when my ideas and beliefs are the most exciting, when I am creating them in the theatre of my mind. That's my sketchbook.
I guess that's also where they are safe and protected. I am in control and they are just how I imagine them, not open to the elements - to criticism or the frustrations of reality.
But I am designer, a creative, ... Read More >>
Long Time No See...

Life has been pretty manic. I have moved house and got engaged recently, and along with weddings, birthdays (and a sneaky well deserved holiday), every secon

Gracious Loser Face : (
13th June 2011
After the excitement of hearing about all the votes you submitted for In The Shed in recent weeks, I am putting into practice my gracious loser face at the reveal of this years finalists of 'Shed of the Year 2011'. This year the competition was tough and sadly In The Shed didn't make it through to the final.Honestly, at the time, perhaps it was a little more like the scene from Friends, when Joey fails to display his gracious loser face and loses his cool in front of the cameras. Fortunately, there ... Read More >>
